If you are passionate about printing , don’t miss this once-a-year chance to operate an historic handpress and print a poster to take home with you. The  Jaffe Center for Book Arts (JCBA) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Libraries in Boca Raton, Florida, is holding an open house in honor of Letterpress Appreciation Day, on Sept. 18, 2012. Drop in anytime from 3pm to 8:30 pm. at Studio 351H at the Center.

You’ll go back in time to print your poster with an 1890 Wesel Iron Handpress from the Center’s collection of historic wood type.  The Center has five different relief presses, all of which, according to the JCBA website,  are actively used by students and visiting artists to create hand-printed books and literary broadsides.

The open house is sponsored by Convivio Bookworks, a book arts studio based in Downtown Lake Worth. Handmade limited edition books and broadsides will be for sale, with a portion of each sale benefitting the Jaffe Center for Book Arts.
